Many couples heading to Port Douglas combine some rest and relaxation with adventures, sightseeing and shopping in the local area. A wide range of options exists and we can help recommend some of the best tours and places to visit.
Reef trips and diving – the Great Barrier Reef is easily accessible from Port Douglas, with a number of operators visiting the outer reef and islands. Snorkelling and scuba are very popular, and there is also sunset sailing available.
Rainforest Tours – Mossman Gorge and Daintree / Cape Tribulation tours are a great way to see the ancient forest and learn about flora, fauna and local indigenous culture. Self-drive options are plentiful as well and could include an overnight stay in the rainforest.
The large resorts and a number of other operations in town offer spa and beauty services, and this is a wonderful way to relax after arriving in town.
Golfers are catered to by substantial resort courses at the Sheraton Mirage and Palmer Sea Reef. There is also the Mossman Golf Club a short drive north.
Shopping is popular for most visitors, and Macrossan Street offers a good variety and some interesting local arts and crafts. The famous Sunday Markets held in Anzac Park are a must, and there is also a market at the Marina Wednesdays.
